Now, with Warner Bros. having released a few pictures from the film, it appears another character will also be in the mix, one that we-spoiler alert-saw perish in an airplane explosion.

Jenkins and Gadot shared images from the film this morning, with Jenkins teasing a resurrected Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) and Gadot showing Diana Prince standing in front of a wall of television sets featuring 1984 imagery. For one, Zack Snyder, who co-wrote the story and produced the first movie is officially back as a producer.

First photos from 'Wonder Woman 1984' confirm that Chris Pine is returning as Steve Trevor

Warner Bros.is celebrating the start of production on "Wonder Woman 1984" by debuting two first look photos from the highly anticipated superhero sequel.

In the 2017 Wonder Woman film, the military pilot gives up his own life to prevent a German gas attack, so how exactly he returns for the sequel is still a mystery.

"Wonder Woman" was a critically acclaimed box office sensation last summer, earning $821.8 million worldwide including $412.5 million in North America.

In the photo above, we see Wonder Woman soaking in the world that is the 1980s, where the second movie takes place as she battles Kristen Wiig's The Cheetah.

Images like these are, of course, meant to set internet chatter ablaze, and we can only speculate as to how Steve Trevor's made a return and how he's landed in the 1980s.

"Welcome to WONDER WOMAN 1984, Steve Trevor!" Oscar-nominated editor Richard Pearson ("United 93") will cut the film.

"Wonder Woman 1984" hits theaters on November 1, 2019.
