"If Trump goes there with his great heart, with his heart on the table, if he can let Kim see him really emotional, it will show that he's trustworthy as well", Rodman said, "It doesn't have to be about war, what happened in the past, about hatred, or how the future will be".

Then at the last moment Mr Kim's sister, Kim Yo-jong, pulled a pen from her pocket which she gave to her brother.

The North Korean leader said: "Many people in the world will think of this as a. form of fantasy. from a science fiction movie".

Mr Kim is notoriously paranoid about leaving behind person and biological information about himself when he travels overseas.

He was on his way back home from Pyongyang, where he discussed details of the summit with his North Korean counterpart Ri Yong-ho.

Kim was accompanied at the meeting by vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) Kim Yong Chol, chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the WPK Ri Su Yong, and Colonel General No Kwang Chol - one of the three promoted in a recent North Korean military shakeup.

"Kim Jong Un's agreement to meet Trump means he's having a hard time (from sanctions)". American diplomats also work closely with Singapore on many strategic issues, and it has been a longtime US trading partner and ally.

Kim stood silently alongside, but the North Korean leader had earlier described their meeting as a "a good prelude to peace".

Speaking to Cuomo, Rodman got emotional as he spoke of his efforts of trying to bring bitter rivals North Korea and the USA together.

Singapore is a short flight from North Korea for Kim Jong Un, and until recently, North Koreans could travel there visa-free for such luxuries as shopping, and sophisticated medical care.

"I'm very optimistic that we will have a successful outcome from our meetings tomorrow", he said.

The White House released a joint statement from President Trump and North Korea's Kim Jong Un after Monday's summit in Singapore.

"This is going to lead to more and more and more", Trump said.

Moon, the son of North Korean war refugees, took office a year ago promising to seek engagement with the North only to be stymied by rising tensions amid a steady drumbeat of North Korean missile tests and saber rattling by Pyongyang and Washington.

The U.S. will move to tighten the punishing measures if diplomacy fails, he added.

It also has two presidential suites, so Trump and Kim won't have to duke it out over who gets the big room. And the American president said he will also visit Pyongyang "at the appropriate time".
