SINGAPORE ― After hours of closed-door discussions in a Singapore hotel on Tuesday, President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un concluded their historic meeting with the signing of a joint agreement.

"The senior officials of the party and government sincerely wished Kim Jong Un good successes in the first summit meeting and talks between the DPRK and the United States and his safe return", the KCNA said.

After Trump's stern speech about North Korea's nuclear weapon program last November, Kim's government responded by calling the USA president an "old lunatic" - to which Trump responded by passively calling the North Korean leader "short and fat".

While the leaders did not speak about what that document contains during the signing ceremony, photos of it taken as Mr. Trump held it aloft are legible, and it includes four key points of agreement between the two sides.

In a meeting that seemed unthinkable just months ago, the leaders met at a Singapore island resort, shaking hands warmly in front of a row of alternating USA and North Korean flags.

White House officials have said that Rodman would play no official role in the diplomatic negotiations.

In Singapore, the island city-state hosting the summit, the sense of anticipation was palpable, with people lining spotless streets Monday waving cellphones as Trump headed to meet Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. Kim can expect things like hand-cut crystal chandeliers, hand-painted chinoiserie silk wallpapers, 600-threadcount bed linens, paintings by Marc Chagall, a baby grand piano, separate living and dining rooms, an office, gym, and, of course, the hotel's renowned (among rich people) butler service. For North Korea, who has long sought legitimacy on the global stage, the meeting was a historic opportunity to show that it carries weight.

Kim was accompanied at the meeting by vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) Kim Yong Chol, chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the WPK Ri Su Yong, and Colonel General No Kwang Chol - one of the three promoted in a recent North Korean military shakeup.

Pompeo said the U.S.is prepared to offer "unique" security guarantees to North Korea to ensure that eliminating its nuclear weapons won't end badly for Kim's regime. "If the USA can agree to the three things, they would be willing for a conversation", Rodman recalled.

"There will be challenges ahead", Kim said, but he vowed to work with Trump.

"Good relationship", said Trump to reporters during a break.

Singapore, the host country of the upcoming U.S.

Mr. Trump threatened to unleash "fire and fury" on North Korea past year, and a North Korean official warned of a "nuclear-to-nuclear showdown" just a few weeks ago. "Today, I think Trump has moved closer to the relationship approach".

Trump called it a "very important" and "comprehensive" document, adding that it would be discussed "at great length". I was the only one who felt so.
