But, this weekend, at Queen Eliz's Trooping the Colour ceremony, it was a different pint-size royal who captivated our hearts.

The Duchess of Cambridge was the first person on the balcony to notice the moment, with a huge grin forming on her face as she then turned to her husband, Prince William, to tell him about it.

It seems the moment is something of a family prank; throw back to 1990 and photographs show Prince Harry doing exactly the same during a Buckingham Palace balcony appearance, aged six. The three-year-old was seen clapping, clearly enjoying the festivities, before looking over at Queen Elizabeth and seeing her famous royal wave.

She visited Canada with her parents when she was just 16 months old and charmed the watching world as she cheerfully waved to the crowds.

The Queen also chuckled when she saw little Charlotte practising her royal wave and exchanged a few amused words with Kate about the youngster's antics.

It's been an exciting time for Charlotte of late, who became a big sister to Prince Louise in April.
