As such we'll be watching with great intent to see if there are any new announcements for games and franchises that're already established as well as perhaps some new fighters that Microsoft could have on the horizon.

"Our cloud engineers are building a game streaming network to unlock console gaming on any device", said Spencer. Former Crystal Dynamics Head Darrell Gallagher is at the head of a brand-new studio, The Initiative. In addition to the new Surface Hub 2 that will start shipping next year, Brad Sams also said in a video today that he expects the rumored "Andromeda" folding mobile device to be released this year. However, sources say Navi will be an RX 500 successor instead of an enthusiast-grade architecture and not substantially one-up its Vega GPU technology.

Playground Games. Microsoft has acquired United Kingdom -based Playground Games, a development partner since 2010 that has helped grow the "Forza" franchise to new heights.

According to techcrunch, the launch of the new games was the highlight of the event.

Like Horizon 3, the new game's world is filled with other human players.

Nearly three years after the release of Halo 5: Guardians, Microsoft unveiled an announcement trailer for a new Halo game called Halo Infinite at Xbox's E3 briefing on Sunday afternoon. The four studios will add to Microsoft's considerable heft in first-party game development, especially as the company looks to strengthen its game download subscription service Xbox Game Pass. "For some people, that's a deal-breaker", Penrose said about the always-online requirement that some games have.

With the game being playable at E3, Microsoft put up a substantial amount of information pertaining to the game such as its modes and how the Seasons feature works. But clearly Microsoft thinks there is still something on it. Microsoft is all about planning for the future and it's doing so in a way that Ubisoft and EA are both keen at tapping: streaming games. Either way, between Spencer's proclamations and this new report, we know that the Xbox team is getting ready for the future of console gaming.

We often hear these days that Microsoft is on its way to become the next IBM, but the truth is hardware remains very important for the company.
