If reports from the Mirror are to be believed, Liverpool are hoping that the French club would agree to sell Fekir for a fee of around £50 million.

The French International is expected to have a medical on Friday before completing his move prior to heading to the World Cup with Les Bleus.

However, L'Equipe have offered Liverpool fans a boost before the worldwide tournament that kicks off next week, with the French outlet claiming that a deal is very close to being complete.

Lyon president Jean Michel Aulas is notoriously hard to negotiate with but he's reportedly had a change of heart just days before the World Cup kicks off.

The Reds see the 24-year-old as a replacement for Philippe Coutinho, capable of playing as an attacking central midfielder or, if needed, as part of the forward line.

"The transfer will certainly not close during the World Cup and I do not think there is any change before the World Cup", Aulas claimed.

"We haven't set a starting price because we haven't discussed that yet".

UEFA Champions League runners-up Liverpool are reportedly on the verge of completing the signing of a France forward, who will be participating at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russian Federation. The club have also been reported as having in an interest in Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker as well as Xherdan Shaqiri, who was relegated with Stoke at the end of last season.
