Following an exhausting 16-hour flight, the team faces another four hours on a plane for the game against Egypt, which will be played in Ekaterinburg.

Salah, in Russian Federation with Egypt, will hope to shake off his shoulder injury woe - picked in the Uefa Champions League final against Real Madrid - to feature in the Pharoah's opening 2018 Fifa World Cup fixture against Uruguay on Friday.

FIFA's approval of Grozny, the Chechen capital, as Egypt's training base came under scrutiny back in February. "FIFA should reverse their decision and move the training camp to another city".

The 25-year-old Salah has not played since injuring his left shoulder in Liverpool's Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid last month and is considered a doubt for Friday's match.

The Egypt worldwide won the PFA player of the year award ahead of Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne to cap an incredible first season at Liverpool FC.

Former Egypt worldwide Mido said he expects Salah to play in the opening match in Yekaterinburg. So I thought to myself, I have quite a few games to play before the end of the season, I can break the all-time record!

But the Egyptian Football Federation announced it did not expect Salah to be sidelined for more than three weeks and he was named in the squad for the tournament in Russia.
