'I was very upset': Thomas Markle on missing Meghan's big day

"Harry and Meghan were there lending royal support to his cousin", Fitzwilliams said.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have officially announced the date for Prince Louis' Christening.

While many potential son-in-laws take their girlfriend's fathers out for a pint and a quiet chat, in Harry's case it could not have been more different.

It seems that the prince really admires the strength and backbone that Meghan Markle displays, and he feels like this is what makes her such a good fit for Prince Harry, who was described as being "a bit of a softy".

Thomas Markle surprised many people yesterday-and among those, officials at Kensington Palace-when he gave a almost 30-minute tell-all interview to Good Morning Britain about everything: his learning about Meghan dating Harry, Harry's political views, and the couple's plans to have children soon. "I was thrilled to tears he was doing that, I just wish it had been my hand holding hers not his", he said.

"Meghan cried, I'm sure, she did cry, and they both said, "Take care of yourself, we are really anxious about you", said Markle, 73, recounting the moment when he told his daughter he would not be able to attend the wedding.

Perhaps the most ironic part of the interview, though, came when Thomas recalled conversations he had with Harry and Meghan in which they told him, "Don't talk to the press".

"And eventually the third time round was, "He's a prince". 'They have struck up a great rapport and he already has a real soft spot for her, ' they said. "I have my politics", Markle said.

"The proper thing to do would have been to let Meghan and Kensington Palace know he was giving an interview", the insider added. "Very nice man. Gentleman". "That was his politics, I have my politics", Markle said during the interview.

Markle also spoke about the moment when Harry asked him for permission to marry his daughter.

In 2017, Middleton went on to repeat her look by wearing a similar lace dress, this time in white with a high-neckline by Alexander McQueen.

"But I think she can always rise to that occasion".
