The Gunners have already completed a deal to sign Stephan Lichtsteiner from Juventus and are thought to be close to signing Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos, with Emery having identified the Arsenal defence as a point of weakness.

Arsenal are set to announce the signing of Bayern Leverkusen's goalkeeper Bernd Leno on Tuesday, according to a report from Germany. He, however, believes the goal-keeping and midfield department need a reinforcement, hence the aforementioned names are being targetted.

The 26-year-old German, who has been at Leverkusen since 2011, is yet to have a medical with the Premier League club.

Emery has set out to reshape the Arsenal defence, with deals lined up for Borussia Dortmund's Sokratis and German worldwide Bernd Leno. Both Cech and Ospina have one year remaining in their current Arsenal deal and it will be interesting to see how Emery deals with the situation.

Leno is viewed as the long-term replacement for Petr Cech at the Emirates.

Emery is also targeting a new defensive midfielder and a deal for 22-year-old Sampdoria star Lucas Torreira looks likely to be completed after the World Cup. The reason you ask?
