One game mode that fans were eagerly anticipating finally touched down this week for a few hours before it was suspended.

We're still unable to resolve issues preventing the launch of the Playground LTM. "We're continuing testing on our matchmaking improvements and are still aiming to open the Playground LTM as soon as we're confident in our improvements", they wrote. We'll have more information available tomorrow.

Since taking the mode offline, Epic Games has been giving regular updates on their official Twitter account, a reddit thread, and their website, but have offered no prediction for when the mode will be brought back online. "We've since separated the Playground matchmaker from the one that affects the default modes and made large improvements to assist with the number of players".

So how long will the new game mode be down and when can we expect it to be working again?

He also confirmed that the game mode would be unavailable throughout the night and Fortnite fans should expect another update on the progress some time today.

Since Playground was been removed, players have been clamouring for the return of the experimental game mode, asking Epic when the sandbox take on Fortnite is likely to return.

"We know you're eager to get out there but due to this, we'll be unable to release this game mode tonight".

Epic Games certainly knows how to rile the crowds up, too, with the way it's always hyping the next big thing up.

As previously mentioned, the limited-time Playground mode also suffered from a series of issues following its launch and still hasn't returned to the rotation.
