Starbucks Faces New Scandal, Barista Prints Racial Slur On Customer's Coffee Cup

Starbucks employees still have not learned their lesson. While an employee didn't place anyone's life in danger this time around, a worker at a Sarbucks in La Cañada Flintridge, California used a slur to describe a customer.

"I mean, that's - when you put something in the computer and put a name on something, you're labeling someone, and I think that's not right", another man said.

Starbucks locations across the country will close at the end of May for a "racial bias" training.

If there was ill intent with the slur, Starbucks definitely needs to make sure the location in La Cañada Flintridge is on the list to receive it.

Clearly, the barista thought using the term was cute. "Usually, an illegal immigrant that recently crossed the United States border". Especially with all the heightened racial tension throughout the country.

Pedro said the location apologized and offered him a gift card.

"I did not accept it because it's an insult to everyone, that they want to buy you with a $50 gift card", he told the Los Angeles TV station. "This is not the experience we want for our clients", the statement said. "We asked for his forgiveness and we are working to correct this".

The CBS affiliate says that the store manager at the Starbucks where the incident occurred refused to talk on camera about the incident. "This kind of mistake is unacceptable and we will take additional steps to assess what happened here and how our partners can be better", Starbucks said in the email.

"After the April 12 incident, Starbucks vowed to "take actions" to fix and reaffirm our values and vision for the kind of company we want to be".
