It will launch in 2021.

The news was revealed via a landing website which features the game's name and current release window. There's no telling if the devs will be rocking an updated X-Ray 1.6 (after S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat's X-Ray 1.5) or if the devs will be powering S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 on something else entirely.

A few moments ago, GSC Game World announced on its official site that they are developing Stalker 2, a title that had a previous phase of creation more than 7 years ago and was canceled in 2012.

S. T. A. L. K. E. a series of games based on the story "roadside picnic" of science fiction Strugatsky brothers. For our thoughts on the last entry in the series, read IGN's review. Four years later GSC was back, announcing a new RTS game called Cossacks 3, and ever since the studio has been silent.

Finally, it looks like this game will be seeing the light of day after a long nuclear winter.

For those not familiar with the title, S.T.A.L.K.E.R is a spooky first-person shooter that is known for its dark themes and challenging gameplay.
