After Doral and Miami-Dade police officers arrived and encountered the gunman, shots were fired by officers from both agencies, striking the suspect multiple times.

Senior officers told United States news a "confrontation" with a man at the resort escalated and police shot the man. That officer was taken to Baptist Hospital and is said to be in good condition.

Perez did not provide details on what the shooter was saying about Trump, who was at the White House at the time.

Perez said it's too early to tell what the suspect's motive was.

The Doral Police Department says on its website Friday there are "no known victims at this point" and there is "no further threat". "We are not saying this is terrorism". "We still have a lot of work to do".

"Every day they keep our community safe".

Secret Service agents were on the scene and the FBI was also called to help in the investigation.

"These officers did not hesitate one second to engage this individual that was actively shooting in the lobby of the hotel", Perez said.

Cops dashed to Trump National Doral resort, near Miami, Florida.
