The series was initiated in 2013 in the line of mid-range Android smartphones targetting budget customers.

We already know that the Galaxy A6 and Galaxy A6 Plus smartphones feature Infinity displays and the Galaxy J4 and Galaxy J6 are also expected to come with Infinity displays as well. The main attraction of Galaxy J6 (2018) is the integration of Infinity Display coupled with thin bezels and 18:9 aspect ratio. The upcoming smartphone will flaunt a 5.6-inch AMOLED screen with a Full HD+ (1480 x 720 pixels) Infinity Display, an octa-core Exynos 7870 SoC and will come with a dual-SIM option. Despite running the modern Android 8.0 Oreo OS, this thing packs a pretty bad 2GB RAM and an outdated Exynos 7870 processor, which probably means the so-called J7 Aero won't be similar to the India-exclusive J7 Duo after all.

It will be interesting to see if Samsung launches only the Galaxy J6 at the event or other Galaxy A and J series smartphones as well. Though not official, the FCC certification of the J6 did reveal that the device will run on Android 8.0 Oreo with Samsung's own Experience skin on top and will equip a 3,000mA battery. Samsung India has also shared a video on Twitter that shows off the front side of the phone while also revealing the date of sale of the Galaxy J6 in India which is May 22. The Galaxy J line-up is Samsung's most potent line-up in India, with the company going on to claim that there are as many as 60 million active Galaxy J phone users here.

This isn't the first time Samsung has had to halt an Oreo update.

The J6 is expected to be a budget offering and will be priced in the Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 bracket. Xiaomi has overtaken Samsung has not only been pushed to the second position but the market share gap is been widening since the past three quarters.
