Nigeria's manager, Gernot Rohr, has released his 30-man provisional shortlist for the Russian Federation 2018 World Cup.

The 30-man provisional list cntains regular suspects such as Mikel Obi, Victor Moses, Ogenyi Onazi and so on, but the surprise of the pack is the inclusion of Junior Lokosa, Kano Pillars striker.

"Simy" Nwankwo has been in superb goal-scoring form in the Italian Serie A with seven goals thus far, while Junior Lokosa has netted 18 goals thus far with Kano Pillars in the domestic league.

Nwankwo got his first worldwide call-up following his fine form in the Italian topflight where he has scored six goals in his last seven outings.

Other forwards that made the list include: Moses Simon, Victor Moses, Alex Iwobi, Odion Ighalo, Ahmed Musa and Kelechi Iheanacho.

Both Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Dele Ajiboye are goalkeepers, which means there is no place for the country's most-capped worldwide - goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama - despite growing calls from a section of fans for him to recall the former captain.

Midfielders: Mikel John Obi, Ogenyi Onazi, John Ogu, Wilfred Ndidi, Uche Agbo, Oghenekaro Etebo, Joel Obi and Mikel Agu.

Nigeria will open their World Cup campaign on June 16 against Croatia in Kaliningrad before playing debutants Iceland on June 22 at the Volgograd Arena.
