Del Toro's horror anthology show coming to Netflix

The series is billed as a collection of stories personally curated by del Toro "that are both equally sophisticated and horrific". Del Toro also has a healthy working relationship with Netflix, as evidenced by the success ofTrollhunters, an animated series created and produced by Guillermo himself (in collaboration with DreamWorks), which has its third and final season due for release on May 25. I suspect this will be pitched at a slightly older audience, though.

Anyone familiar with "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" probably has an idea about what to expect form del Toro's new Netflix anthology.

This new horror anthology series will be the first Netflix Original of its kind, though it joins the popular techno-horror anthology series Black Mirror. Miles Dale, the Toronto-born producer who previously worked with him on his Academy Award-winning film The Shape of Water. Coming off a pair of Academy Award wins for The Shape of Water, including Best Picture, the Mexican-born talent clearly isn't interested in spending any time away from the world of storytelling.

In the meantime: ya think del Toro will do a Lovecraftian episode?

We don't have word about a potential release date or when production will get underway to film the new anthology series, but as soon as we get more news and updates, we'll be sure to pass that information as long as soon as possible. The new series will feature handpicked horror stories from Del Toro.

It's worth noting that del Toro has a home in Toronto and frequently works on films there.
