32-year-old Fawad Alam who scored 10,742 runs in 145 first-class matches with the average of 55.37 has not been selected in the National Cricket team for upcoming Ireland and England test series.

Fawad Alam failed to make the cut after being included in an initial 25-man training squad, while a knee injury ruled out fellow batsman Shan Masood.

The younger ul-Haq is a left-handed batsman, unlike his uncle, and he announced his arrival with a match-winning ton on ODI debut.

Fakhar Zaman, Faheem Ashraf, Imam Ul Haq, Usman Salahuddin and Saad Ali are the five players who got their debut call from the national selectors. Despite it being one of his worst seasons in the domestic circuit, Fawad was the sixth highest run-scorer of the tournament with 570 runs at an average just above 40.

In three Test matches, why is there a need of four openers? Shadab is the only specialist spin-bowling option in the squad, with Haris Sohail's part-time slow left-arm orthodox potentially a useful addition. As a result, Shadab Khan, who has played one Test to date, will assume the role of Pakistan's frontline spinner. Secondly, we've borne in mind that the World Cup next year is in England.

"Yasir's absence is a big loss for us", chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

Inzamam-ul-Haq has said at a press conference that the World Cup next year is in England, so we have chose to make several young players a part of the England and Ireland tests to give them exposure to the conditions. "If we look at his numbers for the last two years, he has more wickets than any other bowler for Pakistan".

"This is a great opportunity for us, particularly our batsmen, to gain experience in this conditions".

Meanwhile, Inzamam revealed that Wahab has been excluded from the squad as he has not been performing well recently.
