West Ham 1-1 Stoke: Carroll denies Potters joy in London

Stoke were heading for their first away win since October after substitute Peter Crouch capitalised on a mistake from keeper Joe Hart after 79 minutes to tap home from close-range.

Playing his first game since January, West Ham striker Carroll produced a lovely finish after being teed up by Aaron Cresswell and a point was the very least the hosts deserved.

Andy Carroll's dramatic late equaliser boosted West Ham's Premier League survival hopes - and took Stoke City closer to the Championship.

"I thought all three subs played really well when they came on but I have to say, I didn't think we'd need them because I thought we had played well enough to be in front", Moyes explained. "With the atmosphere in stadium, it is a hard place to come but I thought we were excellent".

But Carroll came off the bench to rescue West Ham with a superb volley in the 90th minute. I couldn't ask for any more from my players'.

'I don't think he will (slack off) now, because he knows what got the crowd from booing him to cheering him every week and becoming one of their heroes'. "A win on Sunday would really set the cat among the pigeons".

"We took points off them, though, and it's a point for us, so it's a good result in the end".

After West Ham's crucial home win over Southampton and a well-earned point at Chelsea, David Moyes' side were in confident mood and could have broken the deadlock after 55 minutes when former Stoke forward Marko Arnautovic directed a powerful header past Butland but was given offside.

Meanwhile, the Hammers sit seven points clear of the bottom three, and have an extra game in hand.

Oliver and his wife were subjected to social media threats over the incident that led to Juventus's elimination.

Playmaker Manuel Lanzini returns to the bench tonight, and joins Adrian, Patrice Evra, Josh Cullen, Jordan Hugill, Andy Carroll and Javier Hernandez as substitutes. "Obviously Crouchy came on and scored, which is what he does best, and it was disappointing for us because we'd had a few chances and a couple of goals disallowed".
