Recently the Samsung Galaxy S9 Mini with similar specifications to the Galaxy S9 on a smaller scale was also spotted online. On the camera front, the leak reveals Galaxy S9 Active will sport a 12-megapixel sensor with the variable aperture so that users will be able to switch between f/1.5 and f/2.4. The device is expected to be named Samsung Galaxy S9 Active since the company had launched a handset previous year with model number SM-G892 and named it Samsung Galaxy S8 Active.

If we talk about pricing, we can expect the Galaxy S9 Active to bear the same price tag as the Galaxy S9 if not higher. Active variants usually have some differences in design due to their rugged nature. The company had previously launched the Active version of its earlier flagships as well. This handset will have a 5.8-inch display which runs on Android 8.0. That's because flat panels tend to be a bit more durable than their curved counterparts and since the very premise of these variants is added durability, a curved panel would defeat the goal.

Several reports of disappointing sales have popped up in the month and a half since the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ were released. This could be attributed to the 6GB RAM and the dual-camera upgrade. Ultimately, fewer Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus units will be sold compared to the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge but will parallel the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus. For one, the S9 Active is said to receive a 4,000mAh battery instead of the 3,000mAh on the standard model.
