The memo, which was posted to an internal Apple message board, stated that the company had caught twenty nine leakers a year ago and twelve of them were arrested.

Apple has always been obsessed with secrecy, but a new memo seems to take it to the next level. In the memo, Apple credits its own "investments" and digital forensics for helping it catch leakers. The Apple filing has the apparent gold iPhone X in photos from multiple angles, its included features, and dimensions.

This continuation of 2017 portfolio strategy also means that Apple is trying to maximize its revenue while reducing the option to increase the volume of sales. Such warnings could make Apple workers more afraid of whistleblowing, an analyst warns, while a fired Google employee's lawyer says the line is blurring between permitted conversations (about poor working conditions, say) and illegal leaks. To support its arguments, the company cited the example with leaking information about the Apple Watch and the iPhone X. The leaked memo states that a hundred software engineers and a thousand employees withheld this information.

"The potential criminal consequences of leaking are real", said Apple's Global Security's Tom Moyer. As expected, her father who was then an Apple employee lost his job. The memo was addressed to Apple employees, suppliers and contractors. This led to speculation that Apple could lower the price to help spur sales this year, but according to UBS analysts Steven Milunovich and Benjamin Wilson, they are suggesting otherwise. 12 of those were arrested. They also state that once a leaker is fired, Apple will try hard to make finding employment elsewhere almost impossible. A scoop about an unreleased Apple product can generate massive traffic for a publication and financially benefit the blogger or reporter who broke it. The memo also stated examples on specific cases, such as, in one incident the employee got access to internal information from a meeting and leaked that information. In the memo, the employees were threatened with losing their jobs if they revealed trade secrets. Ironically, this confidential internal memo leaked.
