"It is with deep regret that I have to withdraw from tomorrow's Boston Marathon". "Despite my team working around the clock to give me every chance to make the starting line, on this occasion it will not be possible". "The city has just a great camaraderie from everybody anyway because of the race but it feels special this year".

Captain Truchard says he's looking forward to running alongside those who are not only Vegas Strong, but also Boston Strong. It was here that she made her stunning debut at the distance one year ago, placing third overall and breaking the American debut record by three minutes in 2:23:00.

The first to complete the fun run were - Tyler Howard (00.20.12), India Barwell (00.20.14) and Jordan Tate (00.22.33).

Hasay, an Arroyo Grande native and Mission Prep graduate, had been running pain-free in recent weeks and recovered from plantar fasciitis.

"It was the right decision", Hasay told The Tribune in a phone interview from Boston on Friday. Her doctor and support team decided it would be better for her to fully recover before racing again.

Boyarko said she is feeling good and up for the race but the weather could be challenging.

More than 1,250 runners took on the "flattest marathon in the world" on Sunday.
