Local Police Chief reacts to national sex trafficking bill

"She's been a great representative, I will say", Trump said to members of Congress who gathered for the bill's signing.

During a White House signing ceremony Wednesday, the president said the survivors "are very courageous". This bill provides law enforcement and prosecutors the tools they need to seek justice for trafficking victims and hold websites that knowingly facilitate these crimes accountable.

"Human trafficking is a heinous crime that happens every day in our country, driven in large part by websites that operate as online marketplaces for sex traffickers", Blunt said in a statement. She was the first to sue Backpage.com, a classified ads website that has always been criticized as failing to crack down on sex trafficking on its platform. But the president ignored shouted questions about those topics after the signing ceremony.

But an awareness deficit still remains, something Wagner plans to continue to address, which includes partnering with the hospitality industry, visitors bureaus, educators, emergency room nurses and transportation companies, among others.

Corker was an original co-sponsor of the Senate version of the legislation, the "Stop Enabling Sex Traffickers Act".
