"She's been a great representative, I will say", Trump said to members of Congress who gathered for the bill's signing.

During a White House signing ceremony Wednesday, the president said the survivors "are very courageous". This bill provides law enforcement and prosecutors the tools they need to seek justice for trafficking victims and hold websites that knowingly facilitate these crimes accountable.

"Human trafficking is a heinous crime that happens every day in our country, driven in large part by websites that operate as online marketplaces for sex traffickers", Blunt said in a statement. "You are not alone". Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and U.S. Sen. The site offered classified listings for a wide variety of products and services including prostitution and sex trafficking. Yvonne told WUSA9, "That man who purchased her from Backpage, beat her, strangled her, raped her and then cut her throat". Seven of its executives were arrested a few days before the signing of the bill on a 93-count indictment that alleges the website facilitated prostitution and laundered tens of millions of dollars in profits.

The measure, which passed the Senate overwhelmingly by a vote of 97-2 last month, passed the House in February by a vote of 388-25 and is backed by a broad coalition of anti-trafficking advocates, law enforcement organizations, civil rights groups, faith-based advocates, and industry leaders on both sides of the aisle. She was the first to sue Backpage.com, a classified ads website that has always been criticized as failing to crack down on sex trafficking on its platform. But the president ignored shouted questions about those topics after the signing ceremony.

But an awareness deficit still remains, something Wagner plans to continue to address, which includes partnering with the hospitality industry, visitors bureaus, educators, emergency room nurses and transportation companies, among others.

Corker was an original co-sponsor of the Senate version of the legislation, the "Stop Enabling Sex Traffickers Act".
