Kings try to avoid 0-2 hole vs. Knights without suspended Doughty

Doughty has been suspended for one game This is for his illegal check to the head of William Carrier. He didn't play the final 10 minutes of Game 1 after the hit by Doughty.

Cherry spoke about the suspension on his Coach's Corner segment Thursday during the first intermission of Game 1 of the Maple Leafs-Bruins series, saying he thought the hit was to Carrier's shoulder, not his head. The only noticeable absence was that of David Perron (and it's unclear whether or not he'll play in Game 2 on Friday). Vegas won their first playoff game in franchise history in their first franchise playoff game as they defeated the Los Angeles Kings 1-0 in game one of the first round of the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Wednesday evening was an historic night in the history of the Vegas Golden Knights.

Carrier said Doughty's hit could have been on anyone, but we're not so sure. Jonathan Quick has given up 147 goals on 1,867 shots faced and Jack Campbell has allowed 11 goals on 145 shots.

The Golden Knights aren't planning on doing anything different with their game plan now that one of the best defensemen in the National Hockey League is out for a pivotal playoff game, but given Doughty's activity in Game 1, it's something Vegas will take note of.

The Knights also targeted Doughty, just like every team targets the opponent's top defenceman. "I think we did a good job last game getting in on their d-men and separating them from the puck".

The Vegas Golden Knights continue to find ways to get the job done regardless of the style of game, and that's key come playoff time.

The series now moves to the Staples Center in Los Angeles for the next two games, with Game 3 set for Sunday night. "But it's going to be the same game out there". Carrier, who did not kill penalties and left the game after Doughty's unpenalized hit halfway through the third period, finished with 8:49 of ice time.

"They're a deep team", Tuch said. "So I trust them". Last game, I think they played an exceptional game.
