Kellyanne Conway Gets Relentlessly Memed Over Response to Comey Interview

"The president is very confounded that this person is always able to divert the spotlight to him, " Conway said told ABC News Chief Anchor George Stephanopoulos on the morning after his exclusive interview with Comey.

In case you didn't catch the segment, Comey called Trump "morally unfit to be president", and basically called him a pathological liar.

Conway made a similar comment on ABC's "Good Morning America" Monday morning about her not believing Comey could swing the election.

Second, um, what? Conway said, "This guy swung an election. He's incapable of it as we see", she said.

"I rolled my eyes and said, 'Really, this guy swung an election?' It was sarcastic", she said.

Trump tweeted "Comey drafted the Crooked Hillary exoneration long before he talked to her (lied in Congress to Senator G), then based his decisions on her poll numbers".

Shortly after the long-time Trump advisor's comments began to make the rounds online, Conway slammed the backlash as "misleading", and attempted to reshape her argument as one doubting Comey's ability to swing an election. "I don't think so".

Though Trump's tweet was his first since the Comey interview aired, he fired off a series of others prior to Sunday night, calling Comey a "slime ball", among other things.

He went on, "I was not his fan, but I'll tell you what, what he did he brought back his reputation".

Trump and the White House later reversed their position on Comey's handling of the Clinton investigation, saying it was actually the reason the president unexpectedly fired him.

Last July, the Daily Beast reported that an internal memo in the Trump campaign admitted that the Comey announcement had impacted the election.

Remember, too, that when Trump first fired Comey in 2017, one of the White House's initial defenses of the firing was because of how Comey mishandled the Clinton investigation, though Trump himself would later admit the Russian Federation investigation played a role.
