Conspicuously missing from CBS' early renewal drop: Long-running procedural Criminal Minds and fading Sherlock drama Elementary (the latter of which is set to kick off its long-delayed sixth season on April 30).

Special agent Dwayne Pride and his "NCIS: New Orleans" team will be back this fall for a fifth season of the hit CBS drama, the network announced Wednesday.

"NCIS: New Orleans", "NCIS: Los Angeles", "Madam Secretary", "Survivor", "The Amazing Race", "Bull" and news magazines "60 Minutes" and "48 Hours" will also be coming back next year.

The pickups join six previously renewed series, including The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon, Mom, NCIS, SEAL Team and S.W.A.T.

Other CBS programs still on the bubble include Code Black (which returns with Season 3 on May 2), rookie drama Instinct, and comedies Kevin Can Wait, Life in Pieces, Living Biblically, Man With a Plan, 9JKL and Superior Donuts.

"New Orleans" cast and crew are now in production on the show's fourth season, with principal photography scheduled to wrap April 27. In short, it is expected that these well-performing shows have longer runs. After being on a 9 p.m. time slot, CBS chose to move it to 10 p.m., which worked well for delayed viewing. It remains to struggle to attract audience, though it is fair to say that Monday had been known to be a problematic night of the network. "Ransom", meanwhile, has sunk even lower in the ratings for its second season, but the show is a Canadian-Hungarian co-production, making it a relatively low cost acquisition for CBS.
