Amazon says the newly announced Skill Blueprints will make skill creation more accessible, by offering customers customizable templates they can use to make their own skills for the voice-powered Alexa assistant.

These custom responses can be created at blueprints.amazon.com, reports TechCrunch. Here they can listen to a sample of the skill and read instructions on how to create and use the app. The page also has an audio recording of a sample version of a skill created with that blueprint. To make things even simpler Amazon has separated all the different blueprints out into their own respective categories with a handful in each one so users should find what they're looking for without much of an issue, if there are any issues at all. Where IFTTT connects with all manner of apps and services, Alexa Blueprints is mostly still kept to itself.

For now, Alexa Blueprints are only available to customers in the United States.

Other skills allow users to impart information to other Echo listeners, such as a skill that offers helpful information for the babysitter by starting with "Alexa, open My Sitter". Once you have selected a name, click "Next: Create Skill". Each blueprint comes with pre-filled content that can be used as-is or customised, meaning you can edit the examples or add your own. All you have to do is start filling in the blanks on the company's website. Or, just as you ask Alexa to turn off the lights, now she can show your security camera feed.
The Echo Spot is diminutive in size, but not in power.

For example, the quiz blueprint by default has four questions, answers, and follow-up facts.

"Alexa Skill Blueprints is an entirely new way for you to teach Alexa personalized skills just for you and your family", said Steve Rabuchin, Vice President, Amazon Alexa. When I'm able to customize Alexa's responses to my questions, that's where I change a tune.

Once you've done that you can then pick from a variety of templates (aka blueprints) and begin crafting your own responses. Doing this adds the skill to the devices associated with the user's Amazon account.
