'Worried' Montella expecting Manchester United to attack Sevilla

Mourinho-managed teams, too, are hard to beat when they are ahead - a fact highlighted by a prolific Liverpool side's struggles to break down United after the Portuguese set his side up defensively in the second period following Marcus Rashford's two-goal salvo in the first 24 minutes. Despite his track record and large salary, Sanchez has managed just one goal in 10 matches in all competitions.

Aldridge went on to encourage the Liverpool team to bounce back in the final eight games of the season, as he suggested he would still rather have Klopp managing his team than United boss Mourinho.

"I say Liverpool because they are an example of a very good team".

"They try to win matches in an honest way, by outpassing and outscoring opponents and what we saw yesterday was a team winning via an alternative route".

One narrative that has run beneath the surface during this season at Old Trafford has been the role of Paul Pogba in the Manchester United midfield.

Ashley Young has played a number of positions for Manchester United since arriving in 2011-12. The Chilean has seen forwards such as Tottenham's Heung-Min Son hit form. The youngster scored twice in a man of the match performance.

United's hero at the weekend was homegrown forward Marcus Rashford, who marked his first Premier League start of 2018 with a brace. Rashford has made 13 substitute appearances.

"It is a big opportunity for us", said the Italian, who will be without former Manchester City wide man Jesus Navas through injury.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic took part in training before the Sevilla game, although it remains to be seen whether the veteran Swedish striker is in any condition for his first competitive action since Boxing Day. Alexis Sanchez had been underwhelming on the left anyway so Mourinho may consider utilising the Chilean more centrally again and allowing Rashford, a player surely imbued with confidence, to slot in on the left once more.

But Mourinho insists it may be a while until the 29-year-old hits top form at Old Trafford.

Disappointment aside, though, Manchester United will care little should they do what is expected of them on Tuesday and ease past the Spanish side.
