"From a budget standpoint going into season two of Big Little Lies without any options in place we've been... um... short of raped", Orsi said, according to Deadline.

"There is a conundrum if we do take off on one of these Game of Thrones spin-offs, where do we start?"

"$50 million [per season] would never fly for what we are trying to do".

"It was a really powerful moment in our lives and our careers".

Francesca also described the final six instalments as "a dream opportunity" and went on to explain everyone stood up and applauded for 15 to 20 minutes. The surprise second season renewal of Big Little Lies reportedly came with a significant bump in salary for stars Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman, who as THR reports, were able to negotiate significant raises (along with the rest of the women in the cast) based on competing salaries handed out by rival networks.

Orsi said HBO was confident the scripts for season 2 of Big Little Lies "are as good, if not better, than last season" and that the network would not have ordered another season if they hadn't been sure that "we have to more to do and say and there's passion on the part of the cast".

"That's why it spawned three, four, five spinoffs".

On the intention to continue the show's universe: "It feels like corporate malfeasance to not continue it".

But before we get to these side-quests, which will arrive at least one year after the conclusion of Game of Thrones, we need to finish up the original series. "It was unbelievable", Orsi said. "Amazon is not paying for the travel, which is somewhat of a disgrace and they need to know that and others don't want to get lost in Netflix".

As for the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones, which is set to premiere in early 2019, Orsi brought up the emotional table read for the final episode.
