Sidelined AIADMK leader and R.K. Nagar MLA T.T.V. Dhinakaran on Thursday announced his new political party - Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK). And Asianet Newsable chose to decode launchpad Madurai for you.

In the meantime of the conflict between two factions Sasikala and Panneerselvam, Dhinakaran registered a victory in the by-election held on the seat of late Jayalalitha RK Nagar.

Dhinakaran said that the ruling government in Tamil Nadu has been formed by "backstabbing". We will win all upcoming elections, whether it is cooperative, local bodies, assembly or parliament from now by using the latest party name (AMMK) and party flag.

Thousands of supporters of TTV have turned up for the party's launch, while all the 18 disqualified MLAs and three MLAs supporting Mr.Dhinakaran were present in the meeting. The pressure cooker symbol was allotted to him during the RK Nagar bye-elections in December a year ago. "There are many applicants from the ruling camp, who moved the Election Commission seeking those names", said a leader and close Dhinakaran associate.

"How long can the 1.5 crore cadres work without a name?", he asked, adding that for the last four months, the party workers had faced difficulties in securing permissions from the authorities for party events in the absence of a party name and flag.

An interim application was filed by the Dhinakaran-V K Sasikala faction in their main petition challenging the Election Commission's November 23 order a year ago, which had allotted "two leaves" symbol to the group headed by Chief Minister K Palaniswami and his deputy O Panneerselvam.

Dhinakaran said that till a final decision on the two-leaves symbol comes, his faction has been allowed by the court to have a name and a symbol.

On March 9, the Delhi High Court directed the Election Commission to allot a symbol and a suitable name for the AIADMK faction led by Mr Dinakaran. Even in RK Nagar bypolls, I was forced to contest as an independent candidate in cooker symbol.
