Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9

Next up, Samsung Canada vaguely promises Oreo "support" for the Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, A5 and Tab S3 in "Spring/Summer 2018", followed by the Galaxy Xcover 4, Galaxy A8, J3 Prime, Tab A8, Tab Active 2 and Tab A 10.1 "later in 2018". Samsung appears to have been plagued by these concerns for a long time since even the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ went through similar difficulties in including an in-screen fingerprint reader.

"We are also trying to shorten the smartphone life cycle of around two years by accurately targeting the right consumers through consumer data marketing for higher sales", said Choi Kyung-sik, vice president at Samsung.

Rumors about Samsung incorporating an under-display fingerprint scanner in the Galaxy Note 9 have been swirling around for a while now.

Some insider sources have revealed that 180,000 units of the handsets are already sold through pre-orders.

Samsung, however, has not released any sales numbers for its home country that would confirm the reports. As per reports, Samsung had made arrangements with the local suppliers on the basis of this sales goal. Perhaps Samsung's mysterious foldable phone will have the honor of bearing its under-display fingerprint scanner or the next Galaxy S flagship.

A recent report published by global market researcher Gartner showed that around 407.8 million handsets were sold in the fourth quarter last year, down 5.6 percent on-year. Which are comparatively less compared to the 260,000 units for the Galaxy S8 duo a year ago.

It is actually not just Samsung but the whole business smartphone is expected to decline in the current year and all the best players are perhaps going to be affected.
