Toss: Mahmudullah, the Bangladesh captain, won the toss and elected to bowl against Sri Lanka in the third game of the three-nation Twenty20 Nidahas Trophy at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Saturday (March 10).

Mushfiqur, who hit five fours and four maximums, said: "Really we badly needed that win".

Team Bangladesh is not as one of the top rated team in T20I competition but they are good in ODI format and placed on 7th position on ICC ODI ranking. They lost 13 of their last 14 T20Is and will need to find ways to get back to their form.

Bangladesh's victory was orchestrated by openers Tamim Iqbal and Liton Das who raced to 74 for 1 at the end of the power-play overs before Mushfiqur Rahim unleashed fury with brilliant stroke play, leading the tourists to a record run chase with two balls to spare.

In reply Bangladesh started well with Tamim Iqbal (47) and Liton Das (43) getting them off to a ideal start. But this defeat has now placed Sri Lanka in a must-win situation against India on Monday.

Mustafizur Rahman (3/48) and Mahmudullah (2/15) were the most successful bowlers for Bangladesh. He and Danushka Gunathilaka combined to open with 56, and Sri Lanka made 70-1 in the six overs of powerplay. Tamim and Liton gave us a good start. The diminutive opener's final score of 57 runs came off 30 balls with five sixes and two boundaries and he shared a brisk second wicket stand of 85 runs with Kusal Perera. Tamim scored 47 runs as well.

Kusal Mendis and Kusal Perera had struck fifties for Sri Lanka as they reached an imposing total of 214 for 6.

Captain and part-time spinner Mahmudullah Riyad checked the run flow with two wickets in an over, claiming Mendis and Dasun Shanaka (0), both batsmen caught by Sabbir Rahman.

Upul Tharanga also played a useful cameo during his unbeaten 15-ball 32.
