The Syracuse University men's basketball team is headed to the second round of the NCAA Tournament after upsetting Texas Christian University 57-52 Friday night in Detroit. In the Horned Frogs' first five conference games, two were decided by a point (both were losses) and all five were within five points.

Syracuse made the 2016 Final Four as 10th seed in its most recent tournament appearance before losing to North Carolina, with remarkable freshman Malachi Richardson and senior Michael Gbinije providing the spark.

Jaime Dixon, 15-6 as a head coach against Syracuse coming into Friday's matchup against the Orange, had to appreciate the irony of the situation. In two seasons, he has a 45-26 record-which puts him in a tie for the second most winning percentage in school history.

Bottom line? Many said they hope they don't have to live through three presidencies to get back to March Madness play. The Horned Frogs grab 34.5 percent of their misses to rank 21st nationally in offensive rebounding percentage, and five Horned Frogs shoot better than 33 percent from 3-point range. Play was stopped after Brissett took a hard fall late in the first half, but after a timeout he remained in the game. Their big three of Oshae Brissett, Tyus Battle, and Frank Howard, to no surprise, played the entire game and shot a combined 10-of-39 from the floor.

"If you compare it to what other people have been able to do, it's obviously ahead of schedule", Dixon told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram about the rebuild. Next up is a Round of 64 game on Friday against No. 6 TCU. TCU had been averaging 83 points per game, which was 19th in the country. It shot 35 percent from the field and missed all eight of its 3-point attempts in the second half. Many of his Pittsburgh teams excelled in those areas, and his TCU team this season does as well.

At the same time, the Horned Frogs have turned things around at this point of the season before. "So I was trying to help the team to win".

Dixon also talked about the second-half shooting woes.
