Today, the 2019 California Special for Mustang GT is a visual standout, featuring a trademark fading stripe that traces from the 5.0 side badge to the rear fender scoop. At the front, the vehicle follows the blacked-out open grille and picks up the Mustang Performance Pack 1 splitter.

Cabin-wise, those looking to get the California Special should expect black Miko suede seats with red stitching.

Ford has revived the Mustang California Special for the 2019 model year. The new version draws cues to the original with a blacked-out grille, racing stripe and California Special logo placed on the lid of the trunk.

Paying homage to the original special, Signature California Special script badging resides on the passenger side of the dash panel.

Mustang GT's retuned 5.0-liter V8 engine packs 460 horsepower and 420 lb. -ft. of torque and tops out at 155 miles per hour.* When that torque gets delivered to the pavement via 6-speed manual and available Performance Package, you better hold on, because that's where rev-matching gives Mustang drivers a leg - or a heel and a toe - up. Now, the GT's six-speed manual transmission offers automatic rev-matching technology that predicts shifts and quickly matches engine rpms accordingly.

Ford is also leveraging its new partnership with B&O Play on the 2019 Mustang. The California SPecial's new transmission technology and sound system may seem like small editions, but for a muscle auto priced in the mid-$40,000 range, it adds refinement to a sports vehicle that needs it.

Power and torque remain the same 460 hp/420 lb-ft as the regular 2018 Ford Mustang GT. The active exhaust and start quiet modes are also included.

2019 is going to look at lot like 1968 at Ford dealerships.

And those who want to go full retro can opt for one of the new throwback shades coming to the 2019 Mustang, like Velocity Blue or Need for Green.

The first 2019 Mustangs will begin arriving in showrooms this summer.
