Petr Cech became the first goalkeeper to keep 200 Premier League clean sheets, while Mesut Ozil became the quickest to reach 50 Premier League assists and Arsenal scored their 1,000th home Premier League goal when Shkodran Mustafi opened the scoring.

Arsenal have lost four of their last five games in the Premier League to fall a long way behind north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, who are in fourth spot.

Richarlison then shot into the side netting for Watford before Arsenal made the breakthrough after eight minutes when Ozil's cross was headed powerfully home by Mustafi. Aubameyang netted his third goal in an Arsenal shirt, after converting Mkhitaryan through ball into the back of the net on the hour mark.

The win against the Hornets leaves Arsenal 10 points off Champions League qualification in sixth place in the standings, while Watford stays in 10th.
