And celebrity judge Katy Perry has found herself in an ongoing property dispute with a group of aging Los Angeles nuns who for some time now have waged a legal battle with the pop star over her purchase of their former convent. Luke is sold on his talent, but Katy and Lionel give him a "no" because they feel he hasn't found his identity yet. Darrell did get her golden ticket to Hollywood, but was cut during the next round of auditions.

The Season 16 "Idol" auditions continue at 7 tonight on ABC. I can see her belting it out on the Idol stage, but her audition proved that she can showcase her big voice without letting it get out of control; that's key.

"Have you kissed a girl and liked it?"

The "Swish Swish" singer continued to hit on Trevor, 27, during his audition, inviting him to hang out with her and asking him if he's engaged - but he does have a girlfriend. I don't think I'm ready for that.

Nico sings a freaky song about eating worms and pretty much gets an immediate "no" from all the judges.

The worst contestant of the episode, 26-year-old Moscow-native Sardor Milano, claims he was the 2015 victor of X Factor: Russia. We get wrapped up in their stories. But his ear-piercing high notes leave the judges speechless - in a bad way.

28-year-old Julica Kelly made quite the impression at WKOW Idol last September. He strums his battered guitar and sings a star-making rendition of "Unaware" by Allen Stone.

The 62-year-old, who was 34 years older than the show's age limit at the time, cracked up 2/3 of the judges panel with his soon-to-be-viral song, but Cowell was not impressed.

When Alyssa Raghu auditioned on the premiere, each of the judges were blown away.

Though the singing competition helped ABC to win the night in viewers (8.2 million) and in the key 18-49 demographic (1.7 rating), Idol saw its lowest-rated season premiere ever, falling 23 percent from its prior season premiere (3.0 in January of 2016) on Fox. "We don't have to convince ourselves that this sounds good - it just does", Katy says.
