At her doctor's orders, Wendy Williams is taking time off to treat Graves' disease.

Wendy Williams told viewers of her show on Wednesday (Feb. 21) that she would need to take a doctors-ordered three week leave of absence from the show, due to her battle with Graves disease.

Graves' disease is an immune system disorder that causes hypothyroidism, the overproduction of thyroid hormones.

Graves' disease affects one in 200 people, most commonly women under 40, according to the National Institute of Health. The thyroid gland is a small, butterfly-shaped gland in your neck that produces hormones. Those hormones control how your body uses energy, but because of this, too many thyroid hormones affect almost every part of your body.

About 30 percent of Graves' disease sufferers, including Williams, also deal with inflamed eyes.

The star is dealing with Graves' disease which causes bulging eyes, anxiety, weak muscles, fatigue and more.

"My doctor has prescribed - are you ready? - as of today, three weeks of vacation", Williams told her audience.

Though Williams knew she had thyroid problems, she said lately she had been feeling extra stressed and irritable. She then joked, "I'll be back in two". I'm not an heiress. I was pissed, ' she informed her studio audience. "By the way, as I speak to you, my ears are leaking because the push from the old medication needs to wear off before he prescribes new".

On a more serious note, Williams implored her fans not to neglect their health.

As for the replacement issue, due to Williams slamming this idea, the network is going to air re-runs instead. "Because if we're not good, they're not good".
