Snow winding down this morning; another storm expected this weekend

In a dramatic difference from 2017, the weekend of the American Birkebeiner will have lots more snow, now that the National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the Northland. Good advice for those going to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Arizona Snowbowl.

So if you're heading up north this weekend, drive safe and stay warm!

The Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 10 o'clock tonight until 4 p.m. on Saturday and it includes Jackson, Josephine, Douglas, eastern Curry and eastern Coos counties. "It could be rather heavy at times and will last through late afternoon or early evening". New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Another potential winter storm could impact the Northland Saturday night, February 24, through Sunday morning, February 25, though there is uncertainty of snowfall amounts at this time.

Snow showers, mainly before 10pm. West northwest wind 5 to 10 miles per hour.

Light snow is moving across the state this morning. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

WHERE.Waseca and Freeborn Counties. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS. A Winter Storm Watch means there is potential for significant snow accumulations that may impact travel. A high in the low 20's will be in effect with increased winds up to 20-30mph today as the pressure gradient tightens.
