Significant Rainfall Expected In Region

The agency is forecasting between 20 and 30 millimetres of precipitation by Wednesday.

According to Environment Canada, as much as 20 mm of rain is expected to fall over the city by Tuesday afternoon, with some fog possible. The heavy rain, coupled with melting snow, could cause flooding in various areas of the GTA. If visibility is reduced while driving, the MTO advises drivers to turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.


The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority (UTRCA) has issued a Flood Watch Bulletin as warm temperatures, combined with rain, are expected to produce runoff and rising watercourse levels across the watershed, beginning on Monday.

Toronto will see a high of 15 C on Tuesday.


This wet, record mild spell is attributed to a series of low pressure systems moving along a warm front draped across the lower Great Lakes.

"More off-and-on rain is expected into early Wednesday until a cold front moves in and drops temperatures below freezing by Wednesday night, so things could get slippery".


Additional rainfall amounts of 20mm to 30mm are likely.
