The passenger kept farting and laughing at the good of it - but two Dutch passengers didn't see the fun in it as they were sitting next to the man and a row broke out despite being warned by the pilot that the low fares airliner would make an emergency landing if anything kicked off.

And when he allegedly refused to stop a fight then broke out - forcing the crew to intervene.

Police boarded the plane once it landed and removed two women and two men that the pilot reported as "passengers on the rampage", Metro reports.

Flight number HV6902 of Transavia Airlines made the emergency unplanned landing in Vienna after a fight erupted between an elderly man who was unable to control his loud gas emissions and fellow passenger who complained to the elderly man about the smell issue.

According to The Mirror, a police spokesperson confirmed that "a passenger suffering from wind who was not attempting to restrain himself" was at the center of the matter.

One of the sisters Nora Lachhab, 25, explained to local media that she was puzzled as to why they had to be removed from the plane because all they did was sit in the same row the commotion started. One girl, Nora L, said: "It was insane what happened, we had no idea who they were, we just had the misfortune to sit in the same raw with them".

A spokesman for the airline said that our crew makes sure to provide a safe flight to the passengers.

Austrian police officers were alerted and came onboard with dogs to remove the flatulent individual.

After the incident a video of the passengers being removed was posted online on social media. "All I will say is that the crew were really provocative and stirred things up". It's unclear whether the passenger had a medical condition that caused the flatulence.

MailOnline has contacted Transavia Airlines for comment.
