Jennifer Lawrence is taking some time off acting - but it's anything but a break.

The 27-year-old actress has claimed she will step back from the spotlight in 2019 in order to focus all her energy on working with charity Represent.Us, in an attempt to get younger people engaged in local politics.

In Red Sparrow, Jennifer stars as a Russian spy who falls in love with a Central Intelligence Agency officer, played by Australian actor Joel Edgerton.

"It doesn't have anything to do with partisan [politics]", Lawrence said of her involvement with the non-profit organization. "It's just anti-corruption, and stuff trying to pass state by state laws that can help prevent corruption, fix our democracy", she told the publication. As well as meeting with students, Lawrence was active in the Women's March last month, and posted on Facebook her support for women's rights, equal pay, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals scheme and the Children's Health Insurance Program.

More seriously, however, Lawrence has maintained that she wants to devote some of her time off to working with Represent.Us, a grassroots anti-corruption nonprofit. It's not easy to face criticism on a global scale.

The Hunger Games star added: "I don't have the same fear and insecurity in that one specific area that I used to". "This a year ago has been a trying and challenging time in our world and our industry specifically".

"I feel like I got gang-banged by the f-ing planet - like, there's not one person in the world that is not capable of seeing these intimate photos of me", she said. "That was a really impossible thing to process". So you know I'm always gonna take on roles for the same reason.

Jennifer Lawrence stars in Red Sparrow as Dominika Egorova, a celebrated Russian ballerina whose career is cut tragically short when she suffers a awful injury during a performance.

Young Jennifer Lawrence didn't bother making herself presentable between takes on her new movie Red Sparrow "Everybody made me feel so comfortable that I probably at a certain point started making everybody else uncomfortable", Lawrence said.
