"Imran Khan married Bushra Bibi (also known as Pinki Pir) in a simple ceremony held in Lahore yesterday", Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Spokesman Fawad Chaudhry said in a tweet.

Imran Khan, 66, has tied the knot with Maneka, a woman he used to visit for spiritual guidance, confirmed PTI through its official Twitter handle on Sunday night.

The party issued pictures of Imran's nikah with Bushra Bibi, in which close relatives of the bride could be seen.

Khan had denied media reports that he had already contracted marriage with Maneka, a day after a Pakistani daily reported that he married her on January 1 in Lahore.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and PTI's General Secretary Jahangir Khan Tareen were also present on this occasion.

The news of Imran Khan's third marriage also became part of world media.

Imran Khan married Bushra Maneka on January 1.

"To set the record straight, Mr Khan proposed marriage to Ms Bushra Maneka; but Ms Maneka asked for time to make a final decision after consulting her family, including her children", the PTI had tweeted.

Khan has been divorced twice, having been married to socialite Jemima Goldsmith and journalist Reham Khan.

A source in the party said Khan was under enormous pressure from the PTI to disclose his third marriage after a humiliating defeat in Punjab's Lodhran district last week. However, it wasn't a successful marriage as the bonding lasted or only 10 months.

A photo of the couple released by PTI showed Khan, 65, wearing a dark blazer over a traditional white shalwar kameez, while Watto is clad head-to-feet in a grey robe with a red veil covering her face.

PML-N leader and Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique congratulated Imran on his marriage and extended his good wishes to the PTI chairman for his marital life.
