Sanjay Leela Bhansali's period drama officially named as Padmaavat

Rajput group Karni sena has now made a decision to call protest all over the country on the day of Padmaavat release by the name of janta curfew to stop the release. Amongst the suggested modifications was the title change of the film. The other big modification was to change the incorrect or misleading references to historical places.

Secondly, the title of the movie was suggested to be changed from Padmavati to Padmavat if the filmmakers had added their creativity. The Karni Sena has also been reportedly demanding the resignation of Prasoon Joshi, the chairman of CBFC.

"Addition of a disclaimer which clearly makes the point that the film in no manner subscribes to the practice of Sati or seeks to glorify it".


It said the Bhansali Productions and Viacom18 Motion Pictures, as producers, have accepted and have made all the above changes.

The Rajasthan government has already said that it will not allow the screening of the film the state where elections will be held later this year. "We believe that these changes are in line with the filmic depiction of the story we wanted to tell". As Per Latest Reports Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed film is all set to hit the screens on January 25, 2018.

The controversial film Padmavati might not have got an official release date, but has an official name after enough of speculations regarding the name of the film.


Meanwhile, CBFC has suggested some 300 cuts to the film."The makers submitted the final film with agreed five modifications".

The film has Deepika Padukone playing the lead role of Rani Padmini and also stars Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji and Shahid Kapoor as Rawal Ratan Singh.

With both the directors-Sanjay Leela Bhansali and R Balki being phenomenal in their work, it will be interesting to see which film manages to spell more magic on the audience as well as the critics.
