PlayStation announces Totaku: a new line of collectable figurines

PlayStation has yet to confirm a United Kingdom rollout of the line.

Coming from Think Geek is the new Totaku Collection, a series of figurines that feature prominent characters from PlayStation franchises.

Bloodborne Totaku

There is no reason to own the Totaku figures beyond actually liking the characters.

Each of the figures is now priced at $US10 ($13), slightly less than most Amiibo. They seem to be highly detailed too.

There are a total of seven different figures including God of War's Kratos, Tekken's Heihachi, Bloodborne's hunter, Wipeout's Feisar FX 350, LittleBigPlanet's Sackboy, PaRappa the Rapper and Crash Brandicoot.

It is a neat little collection and one that even I (as a predominantly Xbox and PC player) am quite interested in.

It should be noted, however, that although PlayStation Totaku are figurines, made by a gaming brand, they are in no way meant to contend with Nintendo's Amiibo. There isn't a United Kingdom price yet, but they're $9.99 (£7) in America, according to the GameStop website - which also lists a God Of War figure from God Of War. The initial line is scheduled for release on March 23, 2018.

Now, just to be clear, these figurines don't have any extra Near Field Communications (NFC) built into their base, so placing them on top of your DualShock 4 controller's touchpad would do nothing (except be a hindrance to your valuable gaming time, perhaps). All figurines sold during its first run will have special symbols that indicate they are First Edition models.

For a start they're not actually a Sony product, but rather one they've licensed out to third party company ThinkGeek.
