Massive 146-inch TV introduced by tech giant

Samsung's top of the line TV is called The Wall. Well, first and foremost, there's something called Modular microLED. That is something you would only expect from a projected screen. This is the heart and soul of the new Wall TV from the company and Samsung is promising that it will be part of the "screen of the future".

New products from Samsung and LG received rave reviews from multiple foreign media after their showcase at the Consumer Electronics Show under way here on January 11.

The Wall is also a "micro LED" display, which carries numerous benefits of OLED displays, including the flawless reproduction of the color black, infinity contrast ratio, and gorgeous colors. It's not backlit like an LCD TV.

Based on my impressions, The Wall and MicroLED very much challenge OLED for TV picture supremacy. This can be a problem for OLED screens as, unlike LCD displays which have own backlight, the light for an OLED screen is created by the pixels themselves - which, in the case of an 8K display, are tiny. Perhaps MicroLED can get brighter; Samsung hasn't specified yet. Even today's best OLED 4K TVs can't reach even half of that so far. It can transform into any size, and delivers incredible brightness, colour gamut, colour volume and black levels.

The 146-inch size might seem random, but it's actually just tall enough to be able to cover most home walls from the floor to the ceiling. Samsung has broken through the problems faced by the industry when it comes to such large screen sizes.

Samsung has several major events coming up this year with a number of new devices expected to be launched. We're not expecting this giant's price tag to even remotely fit any ordinary home theater budget.
