Maruti Suzuki's new Swift to launch at Auto Expo 2018, bookings open

The new Suzuki Swift will be launched in Thailand on February 8, 2018, according to a new teaser video posted on Suzuki Motor Thailand's YouTube page. Bookings can be made with an initial payment of ₹11,000 at any of the company's dealerships.

Exterior wise, the all-new Maruti Suzuki Swift is 40 mm wider, giving a bold and a muscular appearance along with a longer wheelbase by 20mm, giving more cabin space and 24mm more headroom. The Prime Lucent Orange is the new colour on offer on the Swift. The rear end also gets new tail lights and a redesigned bumper. New headlamps, tail-lamps and door mirrors with LED signatures give the new Swift a special new look. The side profile of the auto features a sloping roof design with a window frame mounted rear door handle and blacked out pillars, but retains the signature Swift silhouette.

The cabin features a driver-oriented cockpit design with a number of sporty touches that identify the focus for the vehicle. The luggage space has increased by 58 litres, around 28% more than the second generation Swift.

The model will be available in both petrol and diesel engine options.

Commenting on the all-new Swift, RS Kalsi, Senior Executive Director (Marketing and Sales) at Maruti Suzuki India said, "We will take the excitement to a new height with the all-new Swift". The Petrol engine now delivers 61 kW of power and the diesel generates 55.2 kW of peak power. However, the Auto Gear Shift (AGS), which comes optional with selected variants, is said to be improved for a better driving experience. For the safety, the all-new Swift will come packed with Dual airbags and ABS with EBD and ISOFIX (child seat restraint system) are standard and Suzuki's Total Effective Control Technology (TECT) for occupant protection and complies with frontal offset and side impact regulations and meets advanced regulations for pedestrian safety.

The 2018 Swift will also mark another change in Maruti's distribution and retaining strategy with the debut of Maruti Suzuki Arena. One of the dealers said that the auto can be booked now, and the trim level can be changed after the new Swift is launched.
