Keita's performances have been disappointing as the season has wore on - with many coming to the conclusion that his head is already at Liverpool and that maybe it is time his body was as well.

"Since the moment I arrived in Liverpool, me and my family have been made to feel so welcome and have made so many friends", Coutinho wrote.

Barcelona splashed out £142million to sign Coutinho from Liverpool at the weekend, with the Brazil global expected to fit seamlessly into Ernesto Valverde's starting line-up.

Liverpool are set to offer Roberto Firmino a new contract that will keep him at the club until the end of his playing career.

Liverpool agreed a deal worth £66.4m with Leipzig during the summer for Keita to move to the Premier League when the 2018 summer transfer window opens. Keita, who turns 23 next month, might also be suffering Second-Season Syndrome. "But he has got his focus back, and we need him from now on to be challenging for European places".

"Keita has enormous potential", he said, as reported by the Liverpool Echo. This is an wonderful team and they are getting better and better all the time. And they have shored up their suspect defence by paying an eye-watering £75 million ($102 million, 84 million euros) to Southampton for defender Virgil Van Dijk.

Less effective was Andy Carroll, who cost £35m at the same time.

Liverpool received £75 million from Barcelona for Luis Suarez in the summer of 2014, but that windfall was largely wasted on the likes of Lazar Markovic, Divock Origi and Mario Balotelli.

Barcelona are willing to allow Aleix Vidal to leave the Camp Nou, with the Spaniard now surplus to requirements following the signing of Philippe Coutinho, according to Sport.

They occupy the fourth and final spot with 16 matches remaining and are on a 13-match unbeaten run in the league, but there is a danger the loss of Coutinho could derail them.
