Chennai Super Kings, along with Rajasthan Royals, are returning to the tournament after a two-year absence, having been banned due to the IPL spot-fixing allegations.

Apart from Dhoni, CSK have retained Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja.

Dhoni has also stated in an interview that during the two years he didn't play for Chennai he has only gained strength in his sport and even though many other teams had approached him, his heart was with CSK where he enjoys unwavering adulation from fans. He captained the side for their first edition but in the previous season, he was sacked by the team management and Australia captain Smith handled the responsibility. Who we will get in the auction...that becomes slightly tough to say as of now. "This is a special place and that thought of being with any other franchise was never a question", he added.

"A lot of people approached me, I can tell you that". "I want local players in the Chennai Super Kings. Fans here have adopted me as one of their own", Dhoni said. "We have two new players - Muthoot Finance and Equitas - joining us", said George John, whole-time director, CSK. The event in Mumbai earlier this month eventually saw him being retained by the Chennai franchise, whom he led to trophies in 2010 and 2011. We will have to buy him out in the auction. "We want a lot of local players in CSK". Also, ICL has come out with other sweeteners including winning match jersey, tickets and a meeting opportunity with CSK captain M.S. Dhoni and team. The former Indian captain revealed his side will definitely go for "local lad" Ravichandran Ashwin when the star off-spinner comes under the hammer.

Brendon McCullum, Dwayne Bravo and South African skipper Faf du Plessis will be CSK's possible targets if they're planning to get back the team's main players. "So that was a very easy answer for me", he further added. We have retained three players thinking which will help us the best- a keeper, two batsmen and the same two batsmen who can bowl.

"But we have to know when and where to use them", Dhoni said.

For the past two seasons, both the former champions were replaced by Rising Pune Supergiant and Gujarat Lions. "You look at all the other players that we have got and then we can go for someone else because it gives the stability to the side. That is, in fact, a big endorsement of the fact that they believe in CSK and the franchise".
