It seems that the company has pushed the launch of the phone to the start of the year as it has officially confirmed that the U11 EYEs will be unveiled on 15 January in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Thanks to a leaker, images and specs for the upcoming handset has already been revealed.

What do you think of the U11 EYEs name? It is expected to be priced at 3,299 yuan ($510) and will be offered in Black, Silver and Red colours.

Like the U11+, the U11 EYEs has its fingerprint scanner on the back.

The screen will also be a bit of an upgrade, being slightly larger than its predecessor at 5.99-inches and an 18:9 aspect ratio. This also gives the device thin bezels up front.

In the meanwhile, HTC has also shared a "save the date" invite with January 15 as the date. The device is said to be powered by the Snapdragon 652 chipset, have 4 GB of RAM, and pack a 3,930 mAh battery. Other internals suggest 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The Snapdragon 652 is a mid-range processor, but that should really be a big deal when it comes to day to day use.

Chinese media has received invitations to an HTC event which mentioned the word "Eye". No information was given on the camera sensors. The photos he has leaked photos also reveal a dual selfie camera setup on the U11 EYEs.

Given these specifications and the pricing, the U11 Eyes is a mid-range smartphone.

The only downside though is the possibility that the device will launch with Android Nougat as opposed to the latest Android Oreo. Codenamed as Ocean Harmony, the smartphone has appeared in quite a few leaks so far. There have been some quality phones from other manufacturers like Google, Huawei, and HTC, but adoption is not almost as widespread.
