The Catalonian club announced the acquisition on Thursday.

Barcelona has signed Colombia defender Yerry Mina from the Brazilian team Palmeiras for €11.8 million ($14 million), the La Liga football club said.

Mina's contract at Barcelona has a termination clause worth 100 million euros.

However, Barcelona did have the first choice over the 23-year-old, despite Mina's agent insisting that the Catalan giant's option is not air-tight and that even includes the potential fee.

We will shortly inform you of the agenda and the presentation time of the player.

Barcelona have signed Colombian centre-back Yerry Mina from Palmeiras.

Yerry Mina, who has scored three goals in nine appearances for his national side, joins Barca in a €11.8m (£10.45m) move from the Brazilian club.

He also has nine caps for Colombia and is expected to be part of the squad that travels to Russian Federation in the summer for the World Cup.

Mina made his senior team debut in 2013 for Deportiva Pasto.

This is Barca's second signing of the January transfer window after the earlier arrival of Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool. The Madristas are 16 points below league leaders and occupy the fourth position in the La Liga.
