England call up Liam Livingstone for two-Test tour to New Zealand

England play two Tests in New Zealand starting in Auckland on March 22 after being thrashed 4-0 by Australia in the Ashes series that ended in Sydney this week. Mark Wood coming back from injury will look to make an impact straight away, like he did when England faced South Africa and he picked up big wickets and bowled well at the death.

England had to look sheepishly elsewhere during the Marsh celebrations, twice over when Mitch repeated the dose - his hundred, also a second in the series, much quicker from just 140 balls and containing 15 fours and two sixes.

"I guess, at the end of the day, everybody knows where they stand, and it gives England almost two years to find a replacement".

"Hopefully, one of the younger coaches we've got in the country is given the opportunity, although if there isn't anybody capable or good enough, clearly England would have to go elsewhere".

On both occasions, England have not merely lost; they have been eviscerated, as one Test of impotent bowling and batting collapses has morphed into another. A new voice, a slightly different approach slightly reinvigorates things.

Bayliss, who took over as England coach in 2015, faced questions over his future after England surrendered the Ashes urn to Australia.

A number of England players are expected to feature in the IPL player auction on January 27 and 28, including all-rounder Ben Stokes, who last played worldwide cricket in September as he is waiting to see if he will be charged with actual bodily harm following a street brawl outside a nightclub in Bristol. As England's head coach, he earns upwards of £400,00 a year.

As for Ben Duckett, who was all the rage a year ago, his reparation will be extensive after his na ve, not to say juvenile, beer-throwing episode in Perth caused England's Ashes party such upheaval.

"Some of the off-field stuff at the start of the tour was as tough as I've experienced", said the former Sri Lanka coach.

"None of us Bayliss would take it on after 2019 but I'm surprised he's announced it quite so early". Small-time misbehaviour perhaps that would have passed unnoticed in another era, but all England wannabes should remember that when influential people start discussing shots it is advisable that they are discussing the quality of your strokeplay.

"If we do go down the track in New Zealand, or in the summer, of picking some new young batters, everyone at home in the United Kingdom has got to expect that the results might not be quite what we would like". He scored 232 runs in nine innings, at 25.77. It's something we weren't able to replicate and something we want to find'. That was away from the cricket side, so it was an irritation more than anything.

From the recent Ashes Test squad, the Yorkshire batsman Gary Ballance, the Nottinghamshire seamer Jake Ball and the Surrey all-rounder Tom Curran miss out.
